The SA Node together with start-up partner OK RDY, launched the SA Cyber Edition mentoring program in June 2020. Designed to support the state’s first co-hort of cyber security trainees, the program facilitates the opportunity for mentors to participate in casual virtual mentoring, sharing their unique career pathway, industry trends and help trainees better understand and demystify the cyber ecosystem.
Along with the virtual mentorship matching, mentors, mentees and the broader community have access to unique mini-mentoring content videos featuring industry leaders in a ‘cyber mini-mentoring’ series delivered via OK RDY’s YouTube channel which already has the official launch video from Minister Pisoni, the program overview interview with the SA Node Manager and OK RDY and the first interview with Pip Marlow – CEO of Salesforce. You can view the video interviews as well as the background video and Minister Pisoni’s launch video here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPkXQCFgjFrYey5pCJ9TK8nPqQKHkxtPT
Organisations which have extended their support to the program include Salesforce, Microsoft, CISCO, CyberCX, Telstra, AustCyber, the State Government and Dtex.
Since the launch, the SA Node opted to expand the scope of SA Cyber Edition for the remainder of 2020 and beyond and offer this mentorship and networking opportunity to all SA students studying cyber security at TAFE and Universities. This expanded program was opened at the end of September 2020 and is thriving, with over 130+ students (mentees) now onboarded and connecting to the cyber ecosystem.
The SA Node together with OK RDY are now preparing to enrol the 2021 cohort of students in SA onto the program and are looking forward to the upcoming release of further mini mentoring interviews.
