RE: $2,500 prize for Tasmanian cyber security startup ideas
For budding entrepreneurs looking to develop their knowledge of startups and innovation, the Tasmania Cyber Security Innovation Node is running the Big Cyber Ideas Challenge to coincide with Australian Cyber Week 2020.
A cash prize of $2,500 will be awarded to the winning entry.
Supporting Tasmania’s emerging capabilities in cyber security innovation, the Tasmania Cyber Security Innovation Node invites anyone with a cyber security startup idea to participate in this free program.
Delivered through a partnership with Enterprize Tasmania Ltd (Enterprize), the Big Cyber Ideas Challenge introduces participants to world’s best practice principles in early-stage startup development.
Trained facilitators will teach the basics of how successful startups are built, how ideas can be validated, and how ideas should be pitched for investment.
Participants will complete two to three hours of online coursework between 12-16 October, then record and submit a 60-90 second video pitch of their idea.
A panel of cyber security and startup experts will judge the submissions based on market need, degree of innovation and scalability, and the entrant’s capacity to deliver their idea.
“The Big Cyber Ideas Challenge has been developed with the assistance of recognised global startup leaders,” Tasmania Node Manager Casey Farrell said.
“The content is fantastic – the perfect foundation for Tasmanian founders to start their startup journey. Even if you’re not quite ready to start a business, what you’ll learn through the Big Cyber Ideas Challenge will give you the tools and confidence to take the next steps.”
The Big Cyber Ideas Challenge will conclude with a Digital Demo Day showcasing the entries during Australian Cyber Week on October 29 where the winner will be announced.
