AustCyber appoints Tony Stubbs as its new COO

AustCyber’s new Chief Operating Officer is jumping feet first into the opportunities for Australia’s cyber security industry and its future economic growth.

"Tony has joined AustCyber as our new Chief Operating Officer after 12 years as CEO at Heart Foundation ACT,” said Michelle Price, AustCyber’s CEO.

“Our Chairs and I are very excited to have his extensive experience in Australian non-profits a part of AustCyber's next phase of growth and know many of our ecosystem’s companies will also benefit from his business perspectives."

This announcement reflects AustCyber’s continued focus on program implementation to grow the Australian cyber security ecosystem, export Australia's cyber security to the world and make Australia the leading centre for cyber education.

“I’m excited to take on the challenge of ensuring the efficient and effective day-to-day administrative and operational functions of AustCyber are achieved so the organisation can realise its ambition of developing a vibrant and globally competitive cyber security sector,” said Mr Stubbs.

“AustCyber’s first two and a half years have been focused on foundation building – creating a stable footing for sector growth. Over the next few years, we hope to ‘raise the stakes’ through strategic planning and execution.”

Tony is a passionate, determined, impact and values driven leader with more than 15 years’ experience is delivering strategic business objectives. He has a collaborative, relationship driven and respectful approach with demonstrated results in bringing teams and stakeholders along for the ride. His core expertise lies in tactical planning and implementation, stakeholder and relationship management, change management and organisation restructure.

Tony’s was previously the Chief Executive Officer of the Heart Foundation ACT – the leading heart health charity fighting Australia’s biggest killer, heart disease. Until two years ago, the foundation operated as nine separate entities and he was tasked with leading the ‘fit for purpose’ program to transition these into one unified national organisation. He was also the Company Secretary and supported the ACT Board of Directors in the leadership and management of the ACT Division.

He worked collaboratively on the Executive Management Group to provide leadership, direction and oversight for the day-to-day operations of the national company – including health, fundraising, human resources, communications, finance and corporate service development and delivery.

He has worked for other health charities, including the Cancer Council and Asthma NSW, as well as in the ACT Government as Campaign Manager with Healthpact.

Tony has had a distinguished sporting career as a player and coach and is a life member of the Belconnen Football Club and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
