Alana is a Professor of Cybersecurity and Behaviour at Western Sydney University where she holds a joint position in School of Computers, Data and Mathematical Sciences, and in the School of Social Sciences and Criminology. She is currently researching on Payment Diversion Fraud and Ransomware, Tracking Money-Laundering through Bitcoin Blenders, distributed extreme edge computing for micro-clustered satellites, and Ethical Hacking. Her passion for learning helps her keeps her at the forefront in the constant changing field of cybersecurity. Drawing knowledge and skills from her past background in Law and Communications, Alana holds great expertise in teaching the legal and ethical issues of cybersecurity. She has authored two major cybersecurity books, “Ethical Hacking” and 'Disclosure of Security Vulnerabilities: Legal and Ethical Issues”. She regularly consults with the Australian and Canadian governments on matters of cyber security, law and technology, big data , civil liberties and has regular appearances on channels such as 60 Minutes, The New York Times, Insight, ABC and 730 Report. “ I never had a boring day in the 14 years of career in cybersecurity.”- explains her passion and love for her job!
